Hey everyone! Dave here!
We've been getting a lot of activity on our new group and we are SO happy with the large amount of members joining and art being submitted! We never really thought it would get so popular, so thank you!!
However, we've been getting a lot of submissions that don't really fit under the category of hybrid and we wanted to clear that up since this IS a group for hybrids!
With that out of the way, let's get down to the topic of the journal. WHAT MAKES A HYBRID, A HYBRID?????
First, let's look at the definition:
the offspring of two plants or animals of different species or varieties, such as a mule (a hybrid of a donkey and a horse).
"a hybrid of wheat and rye"
synonyms: cross, cross-breed, mixed breed, half-breed, half-blood; More
a thing made by combining two different elements; a mixture.
"the final text is a hybrid of the stage play and the film"
of mixed character; composed of mixed parts.
"Mexico's hybrid postconquest culture"
So we see a mix of two (or more) things, usually of two different animals or elements (plants). In the MLP world, a hybrid is someone like Discord! He has a mixture of different animals, bat wings, reptile feet/tail, hooves, horns, etc. THIS is the kind of hybrids we're looking for this group!!
However, draconequus.... or.... draconequi (is that the plural????) is not all we accept. We accept ponies with different animal aspects, dragon and pony mixes, gryphon and pony mixes, and really anything that is visibly different from the standard pony species! (pegasus, earth, unicorn)
Original species are a little harder to categorize, but as long as it's a mix between a MLP species and another, we can accept those too!
So, that's really all I'd like to say on the topic. If you have anything to add, why not comment on this journal and say what you consider to be a hybrid? Thank ya and we hope you continue to enjoy this group! 'w'
